Lloyd (Sonny) Terrell, 66 passed away Tuesday (December 21, 2010) at his home in rural Novinger.
The son of Lloyd Edward and Doris Cedona (Kent) Terrell he was born March 19, 1944, in Ottumwa, Iowa. He spent his early childhood in Worthington, Mo. with his grandma and grandpa, Edna and Emmett Kent, where he attended the Worthington Elementary School.
Lloyd spent most of his adult years in Rockford, Illinois, where he was a bricklayer for Joe Taylor and spent twenty years as a machinist and retired from Barber Coleman.
In 1967 he was married to Barbara Beyers who preceded him in death in 1995. Also preceding him in death were his parents, Ray and Doris Kinnamon and Lloyd and Josephine Terrell, his grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
In 1996, in Evergreen, Colorado he was united in marriage to Phyllis (Smith) Martin, and they moved to the Rolla, Missouri area early that year where Lloyd became a Wal-Mart associate. They relocated to the Kirksville area in 2007, where he retired from Wal-Mart, after twelve years of service , due to health reasons.
On May 17, 2010, Lloyd received Christ as his Lord and Savior and attended the Fellowship Baptist Church in Kirksville, when health permitted.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Phyllis, two sons, Glen Terrell and wife Jeannie of Machesney Park, Illinois, and Ryan Martin of Columbia, four daughters, Christina Terrell of Machesney Park, Illinois, Lucy Rowland and Husband Chuck of Machesney Park, Illinois, Julie Ruggles and husband Gene of Hamilton, Texas, and Susan Leach of Kirksville, Missouri. Nine grandchildren, Ashley and husband Brandon, Mandie, Amber, Ashley F. Tell, Anna, Bradley, Rory, and Kaycie, and one great granddaughter, Brailyn Tade Reese. He is also survived by three brothers, Rick Kinnamon of Kirksville, Missouri, Albert Terrell of Clover South Carolina , and Bobby Terrell of Gastonia, South Carolina. Three sisters, Linda Cardona and husband Fred of Kings Port, Tennessee, Jean Booker of Queen City, Missouri, and Sherry LeAnne Skogsberg and husband Stan of Martinstown, Missouri. One aunt Maxine Schmitter and husband Leon of Queen City, Missouri , a brother-in-law, Reggie Smith and wife Kate of Salem, Missouri, a sister-in-law Jill Followwill and husband Steve of Chillicothe, Missouri, and his mother and father-in-law John and Deanie Smith of Worthington, Missouri.
Lloyd was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, carving, music, and especially enjoyed being outside cutting wood. He loved spending time with his family and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday (December 24,) in the Pleasant Home Cemetery , in Putnam County, Mo. with Rev. Larry Gibson officiating.
Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Stan Skogsberg , Reggie Smith, Justin Followwill, Steve Followwill, Nathan Followwill, and Chris Skogsberg.
