Barbara A. Duffey

Barbara A. Duffey, 75 of Kirksville has gone to join her sons in eternal life on December 23, 2010 at her home.
The daughter of John and Dorothy (Sullivan) Stitzer, she was born on March 14, 1935 in Kirksville, MO. Barbara was united in marriage to Frank Dudziak on September 4, 1954, united in marriage to Phillip Miller on February 2, 1963, and united in marriage to Leland Duffey on September 13, 1979.
Barbara attended Kirksville schools and resided in Kirksville until she moved to Queen City, MO where she lived for 35 years, until she became disabled. She worked at Ann Still Nursing Home, the Shoe Factory, and Red Room, but spent most her life raising her eight children.
Barbara is survived by sons, Joseph Dudziak of Missouri and Douglas Dudziak of Columbia, MO; daughters, Denise Teller and husband Mark of Columbia, MO, Lisa McClellan and husband Jeff of Queen City, MO, Rachael Johnson and husband Brad of Bloomfield, IA and Candy Kott and fiancé Joe Smidt of Rapid City, SD; brothers, Andy Stitzer and wife Sara, Richard (Dick) Stitzer and Mike Stitzer and wife Jan all of Kirksville, MO; twenty-one grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; two sons, David Duidziak and wife Kathy, son, Alan Miller; grandmother, Susan Sullivan and great-grandson, Isaac Winter.
Barbara loved to draw, garden, picnic, listen to music and dance. She loved to bird watch, see the squirrels play, stargaze and feel a cool breeze in the evenings. She loved lilacs and her favorite color was any shade of purple. Her greatest joy was seeing her children happy.
Barbara made many contributions to organizations, the DAV, Missouri Sherriff Association, St. Jude’s and others. She is dearly loved by her children and others; she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville, MO Carol Davenport will officiate. Burial will follow.
