Steve Jeffries, 57 of Kirksville passed away Saturday (January 1, 2011) at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO.
The son of Russell Warren and Gwen (Jenkins) Jeffries, he was born November 16, 1953 in Kirksville, Missouri. He was married in Kirksville to Debbie Gorrell and to this union one son was born. He married Gwen Mehlenbacher in 1990 in Kirksville and to this union two daughters were born.
Steve is survived by two daughters, Allison Jeffries and Larissa Jeffries of Raytown, MO; one sister, Sue Swearingen and husband Van of Libby, MT; nieces and nephews, Russell Jeffries and fiancee Sam of Kirksville, Sara Bode of Glendale, AZ, Diana Skaggs and husband Kevin of Kirksville, Paulina Brabham of Kalispell, MT, Mendy Estill of Hot Springs, MT, Chris LaMaster and wife Mary of Guilford, MO and Kimberly Abbott and husband Andy of Maryville, MO and one aunt, Cleo Davis of Memphis, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jason Jeffries; one brother, Art Jeffries and one sister, Carol Chambers.
Steve grew up in Kirksville and attended the Kirksville Schools. He worked in the automotive part industry. He lived in Kansas City for many years until moving back to Kirksville in 2004 where he worked for Lovegreen Ford-Chrysler.
He loved cars and race cars and enjoyed cooking and politics.
On any given day you would see him at Pancake City with his brother and friend providing a little mischief and mayhem to the scene. They loved to tease the waitress and always had a joke to tell to lift your spirit. Steve was one of the old coffee drinkers of Kirksville that everyone will miss.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (January 8, 2011) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
