George Lee

George R. (Bob) Lee Jr., 63, of Kirksville died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the University Hospital in Columbia.
He was the son of George R. and Doris (Fudge) Lee Sr., born October 4, 1947 in Corpus Christi, TX. On December 9, 1977 in Temple, TX, he was united in marriage to Regina Miller who survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Doris Lee, of Rockport, TX; four daughters, Sheila Garcia and husband Ricco of Corpus Christi, TX, Wendy Kent of Kirksville, April Lee of Green City, and Crystal Payton and husband Nick of Kirksville; eleven grandchildren, Ashley, Jennifer and Josh Bazan, Katlyn and Travis Kent, Jerrin and Chase Lee, Skylar Hall, Makenzee Tallman, and Zakary and Sean Payton; five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Jerry, Johndavid, Joshua, and Delilah; and one sister, Becky Lee of Joplin.
He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Tommy Lee; one sister, Debbie Lee; and one son in infancy.
Bob received his education in Corpus Christi, TX and later graduated from San Diego State University. He had a career in the U.S. Marine Corps, retiring in 1982, completing four tours of duty in Vietnam and was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart. George enjoyed playing pool, fishing, hunting and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Bob was a lifetime member of the VFW #2508, DAV #48, American Legion Post 20 and the APA.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at noon at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Virgil Jones officiating. Musical selections will be "I Hope You Dance", "Amazing Grace", and "Old Rugged Cross". Burial with military honors will follow at the Missouri State Veteran's Cemetery in Jacksonville.
Pallbearers will be Steve Cunningham, Russell King, Jimmy Fanning, Jason Lloyd, Tad Dennis, Pete Davis, Branden Lindsay, and David Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Shaver, Garry Stanley, Wayne Hawkins, and Bill Davison.
Family will be receiving friends from 11:00 p.m. until the time of service at
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
