Thomas Franklin (Tommy) Lewis 75, of Greentop passed away unexpectedly Sunday (February 27, 2011) at his home.
The son of Russell and Leola (Bruner) Lewis, he was born November 4, 1935 at Downing, Missouri. On October 31, 1964 at St Charles, Missouri he was united in marriage to Beatrice Aldridge who preceded him in death on November 22, 1993. Also preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, Carolyn Williamson and one brother, Robert Lewis.
Surviving are three children, Kathy Steen and husband Paul of Glenwood, MO, Kenny Lewis and wife Tina of Memphis, MO, and Carol Raine and husband Carl of Greentop, MO; two sister, Christine Moots of St. Charles, MO and Lou Jean Cory and husband Bob of Altoona, IA; two brothers, Junior Lewis and Wife Betty of Greentop, MO and Ralph Lewis of Greentop, MO; seven grandchildren, Jacob Steen and Shelby Steen, Bradley, Bryan, and Kiley Lewis, and Ash Lynn and Tristan Raine.
Tommy grew up in the Downing area and attended rural schools in the county. From 1958 to 1960 he served in the United States Army spending most of his time in Germany. Following his discharge he worked at construction work and farming.
He was a member of the Queen City Baptist Church, the VFW at Memphis, and the Loyal Order of the Moose.
Graveside service will be Tuesday (March 1, 2011) at 11:30 a.m. at the Coffee Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Noble officiating.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Elder, Paul Steen, Jacob Steen, Carl Raine, Bradley Lewis, and Bryan Lewis. Honorary Bearers will be Mike Bruner, John Steinhoek, Darrell Davis, and Paul Johnson.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the
Dooley Funeral Home
