Esther Conley

Esther Conley, age 98, of Independence, MO and formerly of Kirksville, passed away Monday, March 7, 2011, at the Rosewood Health Center in Independence, MO.
The daughter of John Reuben and Eva Lena (Hanlin) Bowers, Esther was born July 9, 1912 in Novinger, MO. On June 9, 1935 in Kirksville, MO she was united in marriage to Clifford Ross Conley who preceded her in death on January 3, 1990. Also preceding her in death were her parents; an infant daughter, Joyce Kay Conley; three sisters and four brothers.
Esther is survived by her two daughters, Janet Kelly of Independence, MO and Phyllis Cadden and husband, Jerry of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren, Melinda Winship of Rancho Bernardo, CA, Jeff Cadden of Colorado Springs, CO, Michael Gushleff of Tulsa, OK, Andrew Gushleff of Fort Collins, CO and Jennifer Rogers and husband, Scott of Kansas City, MO; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alva Bowers and Leon Bowers both of Kirksville and several nieces and nephews.
Esther was reared in Novinger, Hurdland and Kirksville. She attended the Novinger, Hurdland and Kirksville schools, graduating from the Kirksville High School. She worked at the Shoe Factory until her marriage. After her marriage she was employed at MO Power and Light, Perry Appliance and was the assistant to the Principal at Washington School. In 1980 she moved to Colorado Springs, CO, in 1991 moved to Columbia, MO and in 1992 moved to Kirksville, MO. Esther lived in Kirksville until moving to Murrieta, CA in 1998 where she lived until 2004 when she moved to Tucson, AZ. In 2008 she moved to Independence, MO to live with her daughter, Janet.
Esther was a member of the First Christian Church in Kirksville.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Peisha Roumas officiating. Music will be provided by Lanna Novinger singing “You Lift Me Up” and “Amazing Grace”, accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist. Burial will be in the Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.
Pallbearers will be Jim Bowers, Larry Bowers, Gary Bowers, Craig Bowers, Louis McKim and Eldon Coy.
Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 am on Friday until the time of the service at the
