Katherine Bowman, 82, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Unionville, MO, on Thursday, March 10, 2011.
Viola Katherine Bowman was born in Unionville, MO, on September 9, 1928, the daughter of Charles Orval and Eva (Davis) Bowman, who preceded her in death.
Katherine was a person with a warm and helpful personality. She helped with funeral dinners at the First Christian Church, where she was a member. She often drove people to doctor’s appointments and for kidney dialysis. She was a nurse and also worked part-time at Bristol Manor. Katherine liked to read, do embroidery and making quilts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Several of her quilts were entered into the Putnam County Fair with each wining a blue ribbon. Most of Katherine’s enjoyment came from interacting and watching children play.
Katherine is survived by a son, James Furnish of Iowa City, IA, and a daughter, Judith Gordon and husband Michael Chatfield of Blairstown, MO. Grandchildren are Sarah Furnish, Luke Furnish, Dennis Gordon, Jr., Matthew Furnish, Damon Gordon, and Brandes Gordon. Great grandchildren are Daynisha, Noah, Samarya, Ruben, Kalin, Dennis, and Jaydan. A brother, Donald Bowman and his wife Deane, of South Dakota also survives.
Katherine’s wishes were to be cremated and her family will hold a memorial service for her at a later date.
