Sharon Isabel Schesvold, 72, of Kirksville, passed away Saturday (March 12, 2011) at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
She was born January 20, 1939, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Wilbert and Matilda (Lillion) Stone. In 1958, she was united in marriage to Earl Bridges in Rockford, who preceded her in death October 8, 1980. On June 20, 1997, in Harrison, IL, she married Joseph Schesvold, who survives.
Her survivors also include her mother, Matilda Lundberg of Cambridge,MN; sons, David Bridges of Black Rock, AR, Michael Bridges of Rockton, IL, Peter Bridges of Palatine,IL, Mark Bridges of Durand,IL, Tom Schesvold and wife Debbie of Bensenville,IL, and Steve Schesvold and wife Joan of Minneapolis,MN; brothers, Ronald Stone of Stanley,WI and Paul Stone of Huntington Beach, CA; sisters, Carol Griswold of Rockford, IL and Sue Jackson of Onamia, MN; grandchildren, Michael Bridges Jr.of Machesney Park, IL, Baylee Bridges of Walnut Ridge, AK, Matthew Schesvold of Madison, WI, Joshua Schesvold of Carlinville, IL, Jennifer Schesvold of Bensenville, IL, Elizabeth Driftmeyer, Jennifer Schesvold, and Jordan Schesvold all of Minneapolis, MN; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, her husband Earl Bridges, and sister, Jean Schesvold.
She received her education in Rice Lake, WI and Rockford, IL. Earlier in her life, she was a clerical worker for a Hydroline and Rockford Screw Products. She also owned and operated Omega Enterprises, a computer and office equipment company. She was a dedicated Christian and very active in the churches where she lived including Windsor Baptist in Loves Park, IL, Harrison Baptist in Harrison, IL, and presently Hamilton Street Baptist Church in Kirksville. Sharon was an accomplished musician, playing the piano, organ, and accordian. She was active in Youth For Christ, Awana, Camp Joy Association and Women's Missionary Union as well as taught ladies bible classes. She was a devoted wife and mother.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Jackson officiating. Special music will be provided by David Cook and Ben Austic. Selections will be "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow" and "What a Day That Will Be".
Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Hamilton Street Baptist Church.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 until the time of service on Saturday.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Rockford, IL at a later date.
