Barbara Lee Baxley

Barbara Lee (Bobby) Baxley, 81, of Kirksville passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011 in Samaritan Hospital in Macon, MO. She had been in failing health a short time.

Born September 14, 1929, in Putnam County, MO she was the daughter of Virgil McDonald and Bernie Irene (Stidmon) Pickett. On September 13, 1946 in the Minister Methodist Church in LaBelle, MO she was married to Donald Dale (D.D.) Baxley who preceded her in death on June 30, 1999.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Paul, Carrol and Gene Pickett and two grandchildren, Brandy Baxley and Waylan Baxley.

Surviving are three sons, Terry Baxley, Gary (Pal) Baxley and Jerry (Chief) Baxley; two daughters, Donna Sue Smith and Teresa Dawn (Missy) Strasser, one sister, Willadean Brummit; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a special friend, Dixie Baxley.

Bobby spent most of her life in Kirksville and received her education in public schools. She was an LPN and was employed for a number of years in Kirksville hospitals. She was a breast cancer survivor.

She loved to cook especially baking pies. She enjoyed playing Bingo and going to the boat.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 30 in the Davis-Playle Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Virgil Jones officiating. Music will be provided by Dianthe Cable, organist. Musical selections will be “What a Friend We Have In Jesus”, “Amazing Grace”, “Rock of Ages”, and “Wings of a Dove”. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews.
