Mary Carol Yowell

Mary Carol Yowell, 62, of Kirksville died Monday, March 28, 2011 at her home.

She was the daughter of Carol and Mary Lou (Harkness) Moyer, born January 9, 1949 in Kirksville. On August 14, 1971, in Kirksville, she was united in marriage to Larry Yowell, who survives.

Also surviving are her mother, Mary Lou Moyer of Kirksville; two sons, Bryan Yowell and wife Melissa of Kirksville and Kevin Yowell and fiance Sara Thompson of Blue Springs, MO; one sister, Karen Moyer of Kansas City, MO; six grandchildren, Keegan Yowell and Kyle Yowell of Blue Springs, MO, Hailey Yowell of Kirksville, MO, Nicole Yowell and Brianna Yowell of Kirksville, MO and Leigh Thompson of Blue Springs, MO; two brothers-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Jimmy Yowell of Chillicothe, MO and Mr. and Mrs. Robert R. Yowell of Baton Rouge, LA; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Mary Carol received her education in Kirksville, graduating from Kirksville Senior High in 1966. She received a B.S. in Education in 1970 and an M.A. in History in 1971 at Northeast Missouri State University. Due to the nature of her husband's career, Mary Carol had a variety of jobs, primarily in bookkeeping for several governmental agencies. Her most important and cherished role was that of a faithful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mary Carol was a friend to all who knew her. She was an avid fan of her children and grandchildren's school and sports activities.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, March, 31, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Donnie Waybill and Virgil Jones will officiate with specially recorded musical selections, "Memories" and "You Light Up My Life". Burial will be at Maple Hills Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Yowell, Kevin Yowell, Keegan Yowell, Kyle Yowell, David Jacobs, and Mark Findling. Honorary pallbearers will be Reverend Manning P. Miller, Ronnie Anderson, Rich Morrow, Tim Rogers, and Jason Peterson.
