Robert “Bob” Nester, 80 of Kirksville passed away Thursday (April 7, 2011) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville.
The son of Von Russell and May Mary (Thudium) Nester, he was born April 13, 1930 in Macon County, Missouri. On October 15, 1971 he was united in marriage to Marjorie Marie Clay who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ernest Leibhart, step mother, Corie Long Nester, step brother, Harold Long and step sister, JoAnn.
Bob is survived by a step daughter, Patti Lowe of Olathe, KS; two step sons; a step brother, Frank Long and wife Wanda of Macon, MO; cousins, James Overstreet and wife Mary Jane of Kirksville and Jaunita Baker of Kirksville and several step grandchildren.
Bob attended rural school in Adair County. He worked for Harry Spooner’s Garage where he was taught the trade of radiator repair. He later opened his own business Bob’s Radiator and Air Conditioning that he operated until his retirement. After his retirement he lived several years in Camdenton, MO before moving back to Kirksville.
He was a former member of Hamilton Street Baptist Church and the Kirksville Moose Lodge.
Graveside service and interment will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday (April 9, 2011) at Nester Chapel Cemetery near New Boston, MO.
Visitation with the family will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at theDavis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
