Olin Eugene Starbuck, 76, of Kirksville, formerly from Queen City, loving husband and father was called home to his be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center.
Olin was the son of Ivan and Mae Aldridge Starbuck, born on a farm in Queen City on November 27, 1934. On July 27, 1955, he married the love of his life Helen Ann Bland. Olin was a member of the Queen City Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and Church Clerk for many years. He attended the Fairview rural school and graduated from Queen City High School in 1952. After a spine injury in 1956 Olin attended Browns Business College in St. Louis, MO and worked from a wheelchair as a bookkeeper for over 40 years. His first job was with American Body and Auto Repair Shop in St. Louis and after about two years he went to work for Bailey Limestone Company in Kirksville where he worked until 1979. He went to work for Simmons Trucking Co. in Glenwood, MO for about seven years and retired in 2005, from Rogers Trucking, Inc..
Olin enjoyed many hobbies such as collecting coins, guns, antique door knobs as well as pocket knives. He restored and drove a 1937 Plymouth and 1965 Rambler American convertible. He enjoyed metal detecting, building old guns and woodworking. He won several shooting competitions and enjoyed traveling across the country.
Olin is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Starbuck, two sons, Dennis Starbuck and wife Paula of Pflugerville, TX and Russell Starbuck and wife Khris of Round Rock, TX, three grandchildren; Rachel Starbuck, Adam Starbuck and Luke Starbuck, brother, Max Starbuck, of Wildwood, MO, six sisters, Helen Logue and husband Bill of Stevensville, MT, Maxine Jansen and husband Bill of Louisville, CO, Pansy Martin and husband Gary of Queen City, Patsy Rhoads and husband Charles of Queen City, Darlene Humphrey and husband Danny of Greentop, MO and Arlene Chrisman and husband Michael of Kirksville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Starbuck on February 7, 1997, mother, Mae Aldridge Starbuck March 13, 2008, and his brother, Roy Starbuck June 2000.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (May 21, 2011) at the Queen City Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Groom and Pastor Jeff Noble officiating. Burial will be in the Myers Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Morris McNabb, Jim Bland, J.O. Kollar, Albert Morgan, Ronnie Hart and John Robinson.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Dooley Funeral Home
