Helen Maxine Christman

Helen Maxine Christman, 93 of Kirksville passed away Saturday (May 21, 2011) at Kirksville Manor Care in Kirksville.

The daughter of Aven and Ruby (Poole) Crawford, she was born August 9, 1917 near Downing, Missouri. On February 20, 1938 she was united in marriage to Stanley R. Christman, who preceded her in death in 1983. Also preceding her in death were her parents, one sister, Mary Davis, one brother, Harry Lee Crawford, two sons-in-law, Charles Scott and Dr. Tim Webber, and one grandson, Timmie Webber.

Surviving are three daughters, Jeanette Webber of Saginaw, MI, Sandi Christman of Grayson, GA and Linda Barnett of Kirksville; one sister, Lou Jean Ptnashnik of Kewanee, IL; one sister-in-law, Jean Crawford of Kirksville; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Maxine was a graduate of Downing High School and received her teaching certificate from Kirksville State Teachers College (now Truman State University) in Kirksville. After teaching near Downing, MO she assisted her husband in their real estate/insurance office and with their Christmas tree farm in Kirksville.

Maxine was a member and deacon of the First Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, D.A.R., and Red Hats. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday (May 26, 2011) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Michael McCormack officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hills Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and family members.
