Evelyn Marie Riddle, age 90, of Kirksville passed away Monday, May 23, 2011, at Northeast Regional Medical Center.
The daughter of Dennis Archibald and Leorie May (Crawford) Lockhart, Evelyn was born June 20, 1920 in Kirksville, MO. On November 8, 1941 in Lancaster, MO she was united in marriage to Lawrence Rash who preceded her in death on July 14, 1977. To this union, three daughters were born. On December 20, 1981 in Kirksville she was united in marriage to Eugene M. Riddle who preceded her in death on March 23, 2004. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Karen Jean Rash; one brother and one sister.
Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Dianna Lewellen and husband, Charles of Kirksville, and Linda Baker and husband, Kenny of Hurdland, MO; one step-daughter, Janice Harrison and husband, Dr. Norman of Las Cruces, NM; four grandchildren, Chuck Lewellen and wife, Cindy of Kirksville, Christina Foglesong and husband, Patrick of Kirksville, Curtiss Baker and wife, Sherry of Kirksville, and Scott Baker and wife, Linnette of Kirksville; nine great-grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew and Danielle Lewellen, Jessica, Caleb and Alicia Foglesong, Morgan and Trent Baker and Luke Morrow.
Evelyn was reared in the Kirksville area where she attended the Kirksville schools graduating from the Kirksville High School. After her marriage she was a homemaker and devoted wife and mother. Later in her life she enjoyed traveling and being with her family. Evelyn was a member of the Rehoboth Baptist Church where she enjoyed participating in the church women’s group called Jacob’s Daughters. She enjoyed spending time with her extended family at St. Andrew’s apartments and she loved the special times spent with her family. Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Curtis Ferguson officiating. Musical selections, “In The Garden” and “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” will be song by Joanna Peck. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Lewellen, Andrew Lewellen, Scott Baker, Curtiss Baker, Pat Foglesong and Caleb Foglesong. Honorary Pallbeares will be Trent Baker, Morgan Baker, Luke Morrow, Alicia Foglesong, Jessica Foglesong and Danielle Lewellen.
Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday, in the chapel of the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer-Home 2100 E. Shepherd Avenue Kirksville, MO 63501 660-665-2233
The family has requested memorials to the Twin Pines Adult Care Center Residence’s Fund or the Rehoboth Baptist Church.
