Harold Frink
Harold Frink, 71, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee Mission, KS, on Saturday, June 18, 2011.
Harold Cleland Frink, Jr., was born in Beloit, KS, on May 10, 1940, the son of Harold Cleland Frink, Sr. and Genevieve Wilma (Bussert) Frink who preceded him in death. He was reared in Salina, KS, and later attended chef school in Colorado. On March 4, 1961 he married Catherine Curry who preceded him in death on June 28, 1974. To this union were born Mary Beth, Marsha, Teresa, Douglas, and David. He later married Nellie Gresham and they divorced. Together they had Jeff and Jeremy. On June 23, 1991 he married Janet Frink in Kearney, NE, and she survives at the home in Unionville.
Harold was a jack-of-all trades who was good at most any thing he tried. He owned and operated several restaurants in communities in which he lived. He ran a well service in Colorado as well as serving as a hunting guide there. He was a licensed electrician and worked as mechanic for John Deere in Shelton, NE, for seven years. He also worked as a cook for the Colorado Youth Correctional Facilities. For the last few years he had owned and operated Deb’s Café in Unionville, MO. Harold and Janet moved to Unionville from Shelton, NE, in 1995.
Harold liked to fish, collect guns and do wood working. He also liked to visit with friends at the café over coffee and engage in “horse trading.” He loved his grandkids and his family was his life.
Harold’s surviving children are Mary Beth (Ted) Reehl, Hickman, NE; Marsha (Tim) Hemmingsen, Elm Creek, NE; Teresa Vick, Akron, CO, Doug (Myrna) Frink, Purcell, OK; David Frink, Yuma, CO; step-daughter Wendy (Mark) Ripp, Creighton, NE; Jeremy (Jessica) Frink, Lincoln, NE; Jeff (Lori) Frink, San Antonio, TX; step-sons Phillip Garr, Ottawa Lake, MI; Jerred (Ashly) Hurley, Unionville, MO; and Doug (Debbie) Hurley, Unionville, MO; and adopted son Billy Frink, Lancaster, MO. He is also survived by 34 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Two sisters also survive, Wilma (Bob) McHugh, Cheryle (Warren) Severin, Ft. Collins, CO.
Harold was also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Autumn May
Funeral services for Harold Frink will be at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, on Thursday, June 23, 2011 with visitation on Wednesday, June 22 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Interment will be in the McCune Cemetery east of Unionville.
