Alice Davis

Alice Davis, 84, passed away at the Luther Manor Nursing Home in Hannibal, MO, on Monday, June 20, 2011. She had been a resident there for seven months.
Alice Lavinia (Casady) Davis was born in Chariton, Putnam County, Missouri, on October 8, 1926, the daughter of Otho and Mona (Cowan) Casady, who preceded her in death. She married Dana Davis in Unionville, MO, on September 11, 1949, and he preceded her in death on December 21, 1986.
Alice and Dana started married life in Lincoln Township in Putnam County but spent most of their married life in the Lemons area of Putnam County. They farmed in that area and also owned and operated Davis Antiques in Lemons. Dana and Alice wintered in Texas for several years and Alice moved there permanently in 1993. She returned to Missouri in late 2010 in order to be near her daughters. She enjoyed needle work and raising her family. Alice was a baptized member of the Church of Christ.
Alice is survived by her three children: Connie (Donald) Noland of Livonia, MO, Cathy (Bob) Whitley of Hannibal, MO, and Lonnie Davis of McAllen, TX. Her grandchildren are Danny (Angie) Noland, Carroll (Sheila) Noland, Darin (Feliecia) Martin, Stacie (Richard) Tharp, Lisa (Travis) Dryden, Bobby (Ashley) Whitley, Tina Davis, Brenda (Rich) Deitrick, and Jonathon (Malissa) Davis. Twenty-five great grandchildren also survive as well as a sister, Deloris (Clarence) VanEgdom of Albia, IA. One niece and two nephews survive as well.
Others who preceded Alice in death were her daughter-in-law, Gail Davis, a granddaughter, Christy Williams, and a nephew, Ronnie VanEgdom.
Funeral services for Alice Davis will be at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at 2:30 pm with visitation at 1:30 pm. Interment will be at the Thompson Cemetery east of Unionville, MO.
