Curtis Anders, 81, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Care Center in Unionville on Wednesday, June 22, 2011. He had been a resident there only briefly.
Curtis Franklin Anders was born in Unionville, MO, on December 29, 1929, the son of Gerald Raymond and Myrtle Faye (Jump) Anders who preceded him in death. Curtis furthered his education at the Chillicothe Mechanic School learning a valuable trade he used throughout his 30 years as a truck driver and cattle farmer. Curtis also ran a gas station in Martinstown for some time and enjoyed the hay season. Curtis attended the Faith Tabernacle Church and had the privilege to be baptized by his grandpa, Earnest Keller. Curtis’ wife, Wanetta, once shared a 1,100 mile motorcycle ride throughout MO with him. Many things in addition to his family were dear to Curtis. He loved his cattle and horses and enjoyed deer hunting, western novels, and card playing. He will often be remembered with a cup of coffee and cigarette in his hand.
Curtis is survived by four daughters: Janet Sue Kerby of Unionville, MO; Jana Lee (John) Simmons of Albia, IA; Joy Lynn Morehead of Milan, MO; and Jody Elaine (Rick) Hanen of Milan, MO. Two step-sons also survive, Joey Summers of Unionville, MO, and Jeffery Ledford of Milan, MO, along with two step-daughters, Yvonne Hannen of Cuba City, WI, and Peggie Jean Semmer of Lancaster, WI. Surviving grandchildren are Curtis Robbin, Nathan Morehead, Nikki Morehead, Shayla Furish, Brroke Carter, Lacy Ledford, Tiffani Ledford, Jordan Ledford, Jeramy Summers, Matthew Ruggles, Stacie Andrew, Michael Summers, and Hannah Summers. Ten great grandchildren survive as well as several cousins and four aunts, Marjorie Wattenbarger, Carolyn Keller, Willa Dean Moss, and Katie Cox.
In addition to his parents, Curtis was preceded in death by a granddaughter Shanna Beth Johnson.
Funeral services for Curtis Anders will be held at Playle & Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, on Friday, June 24, 2011, at 2:00 pm with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Pherigo Cemetery.
