Arlene Bramstedt

Arlene M. Bramstedt, 85, of Kirksville passed away Monday, August 15, 2011, at the home of her daughter.

Arlene was born on April 26, 1926 in Alpha, MN, the daughter of Ernest and Clara (Emery) Fitzlaff. She was united in marriage to Robert Bramstedt on June 9, 1942 in Clear Lake, IA, who preceded her in death on September 21, 1977. She was also preceded in death by her parents, ten brothers and three sisters.

Arlene is survived by two sons; John Bramstedt and wife, Carmen of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and Terrill Bramstedt and wife, Mary of Elgin, MN; one daughter, Sandy Raasch of Kirksville, MO; one sister, Esther Stofferahan of Matton, IL; nine grandchildren, Jeffery Bramstedt, Seth Bramstedt, Rebecca Brantner and husband, Gregory, Heidi Bramstedt, Meghan Bramstedt, Bronwyn Betz and husband, Zachary, Matthew Bramstedt and wife, Amanda, Paul Raasch and wife, Erin, Robin Garnett and husband, Paul; nine great- grandchildren, Micah Bramstedt, Samuel Bramstedt, Annie Bramstedt, the children’s, mother, Sally Scovel, Christian Bramstedt, Christian’s mother, Kelly Hickephier, Connor Bramstedt, Hunter Bramstedt, Ian Garnett, Autumn Garnett and Devin Raasch. Also surviving are serveral nieces and nephews.

Arlene was born and lived in the Alpha, MN area until the age of six at which time she moved to Lakefield, MN where she attended the Lakefield Schools. She lived in the Alpha and Jackson area until moving to Spicer, MN where the family owned and operated a resort for ten years. She moved to the Kirksville area and was employed with NEMO Senior Citizens Services for 23 years before retiring in 2007. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Kirksville.

A funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Chapel, with Reverend David Lukefahr officiating. There will be a congregational hymn, “The Lord Is My Shepherd”.

A funeral service will be held at the 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Alpha, MN with burial in the Sherburn City Cemetery in Sherburn, MN.

Pallbearers will be Jeffery Barmstedt. Seth Barmstedt, Matthew Barmstedt, Paul Raasch, Paul Garnett, Gergory Brantner and Zachery Betz.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 8:00 p.m on Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at the Davis-Playle Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home 2100 E. Shepherd Ave.
