Lathella Epperson

Lathella Epperson, 91 of Kirksville passed away Thursday (August 25, 2011) at Kirksville Manor Care.

The daughter of Elmer Thomas and Eula Mabel (Bledsoe) Thurman, she was born December 26, 1919 in Atlanta, MO. On June 1, 1941 in Atlanta, MO she was united in marriage to Harold M. Epperson and he preceded her in death on March 12, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Leon Thurman and one sister, Elma Jackson.

Lathella is survived by one son, Joseph Harold Epperson and Patti Martin of Kirksville; one daughter, Beth Fralicx and husband Ron of Foristell, MO; and three sisters, Arline Hooper of St. Louis, MO, Doris Alexander and husband Willard of Queen City, MO and Linda Sloan of Macon, MO.

Lathella was raised in Atlanta, MO where she received her education, graduating with the class of 1938. She attended Kirksville Normal School (now Truman State University). She taught school for eight years in Callao and Unionville, MO. In 1946 she and Harold moved to Kirksville.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Sojouner’s Club, D.A.R., Mothers Home Club, A to Z Club, P.E.O., Christian Women’s Fellowship and was an avid Bridge player.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (August 28, 2011) at First Christian Church with Reverend Stephen McDuff officiating. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Steve King, Ron Fralicx, Brett Jackson, Terry Thurman, Mike Thurman and Bob Barrickman.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Ave., Kirksville, MO 63501 660-665-2233

Memorials are suggested to the Adair County Public Library, First Christian Church or Hospice of Northeast Missouri.
