Cheryl Ann McAuley, 59 of Greentop passed away Sunday (Sept. 4, 2011) at her home.
The daughter of Horace Edward and Helen Louise (Miller) Cooper, she was born July 30, 1952 in Kirksville, MO. On May 28, 1983 at New Hope Methodist Church in Schuyler County she was united in marriage to Miran McAuley.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Miran; four children, Anna Bushnell and husband Mark of Queen City, MO, Michelle Cunningham of Lancaster, MO, Kimberley Steen and husband Keith of Queen City, MO and Matthew McAuley and wife Melanie of Greentop, MO; ten grandchildren, Ryan Bushnell, Brooke Bushnell, Jacqueline Bushnell, Calvin Yardley, Emily Cunningham, Alyssa Steen, Keith Steen Jr., Joseph Wagner, Andrew Wagner and Ryan Wagner; one brother, Charles E. Cooper and wife Janet of Greentop, MO and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Cheryl attended the Willmathsville School until it closed in 1965 and then attended and graduated from the Brashear High School in 1970. She worked as a nurse’s aid in Adair, Schuyler and Putnam Counties. Worked for the Schuyler County Ambulance as an E.M.T., for Burroughs, Florshiem Shoe Factory and Ortech where her job took her to Japan at one time. She recently worked for Wal-Mart for 15 years.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Greentop Baptist Church and Jewels at the El Kadir Shrine. She enjoyed working and playing in the outdoors and on the farm, needle point, puzzles, playing the piano and cooking for the Masonic Temple. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday (Sept. 9, 2011) at the Trinity Methodist Church with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Music will be provided by Stephanie Cooper singing, “When We All Get To Heaven”, “Shall We Meet At The River” and “Mansion Over The Hilltop” accompanied by Karmen Buckallew and Pat Swedberg. Burial will be in the Greentop Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Pulliam, David Pulliam, Ryan Bushnell, Earl Yearns, Larry Lay and Ralph Miller. Honorary bearers will be Mark Bushnell, Jim Gibson, Calvin Yardley, Keith Steen Jr., Joseph Wagner, Earl Miller, Paul Lay, Kermit Hiatt, Bob Ridgeway, Raymond Buchanan and Bob Barrett.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Ave., Kirksville, MO 63501 660-665-2233
