Thelma Louise Reissig, 89 of Kirksville passed away Monday (September 12, 2011) at Northeast Regional Medical Center.
The daughter of Oscar Edgar and Hazel May (Ross) Poe, she was born January 21, 1922 in Eddyville, Iowa. On October 10, 1940 in Syracuse, Kansas she married Alvin John Fredrick Reissig.
Thelma grew up in Avery, Iowa where she attended grade school. She graduated from the Eddyville High School in 1940. She worked for many years at McGraw Edison and then was a waitress at Holiday Inn in Kirksville until she retired.
She attended church at New Hope Evangelical Church. She enjoyed crafts, sewing and traveling.
Thelma is survived by her sons, Ronnie Lee Reissig of Kirksville and Oscar Edgar Reissig of Kansas City, MO; one granddaughter, Lisa Bean of Smithville, MO; one great granddaughter, Katie Bean of Smithville, MO; two sisters, Alice Sly of Eddyville, IA and Yvonne DeWitt of Blakesburg, IA; two step brothers, two step sisters and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Frances VanGenderen and Alma Derry and one brother, Ervin Poe.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday (September 15, 2011) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Darrell Draper officiating. Musical selections will be “Dust in the Wind” and “Mansion Over The Hilltop”. Burial will be in Forrest Llewellyn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Bean, Jerry Dodsworth, Kenneth DeWitt, Curtis Dodsworth, Bud Poe and Kevin Johnson.
There will be no public visitation.
