Annie Laurie Webb, 85, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville, MO, on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, after a brief illness.
Annie Laurie (Rockwood) Webb was born in Unionville, MO, on May 1, 1926, the daughter of William Luther and Vesta (Williams) Rockwood, who preceded her in death. She attended Unionville schools and graduated from Unionville High School. She married Ralph Webb in Lawrence, KS, on June 26, 1946 and he preceded her in death on July 24, 1988.
Annie Laurie worked for a while at Herrick Rexall Drug after High School. She and Ralph then lived in the states of California and Utah for a number of years. They lived in Troy, MO, for 17 years and owned and operated a dry cleaning business until Ralph’s health forced them to sell. They returned to Unionville.
Annie Laurie was a good cook (even though she did not like to cook), specializing in homemade spaghetti and meatballs. She also loved to read mysteries and Harlequin romances.
Annie Laurie is survived by one son, Patrick Webb, of Unionville, MO, and four grandchildren, Stacy Kolb (whom she raised for a few years) and husband Don, Tish Tubb and husband Ryan, Peggy Dover and husband Ryan, and Tony Webb. Two nephews, Stephen and Alan Rockwood also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, Annie Laurie was preceded in death by a son, Bill Webb, who died in 2009, and two brothers, Robert Dell and James Rockwood.
Funeral services for Annie Laurie Webb will be at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at 11:00 am with visitation at 10:00 am the same day. Interment will be in the Unionville Cemetery, Unionville, MO.
Memorials are suggested to the American Legion Post #34 in Unionville, MO, and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th, Unionville, MO.
