Marlene Harris
Marlene Harris, 73, passed away at her home in Unionville, MO, on Saturday, September 24, 2011. She had been battling cancer for some time.
Marlene Ruth (Ingold) Harris was born in Steubenville, OH, on June 16, 1938, the daughter of Charles and Mildred (Foster) Ingold, who preceded her in death. She grew up in Wintersville, OH, where she attended school.
Marlene married Charles Harris in March of 1958, when Charles was in the service. Charles retired in Nebraska after 20 years in the service and Marlene and Charles moved to Ohio. They moved to Missouri in 1977 where Marlene made her home. Marlene worked as a cook in various restaurants in Unionville until her retirement in 1990.
Marlene loved her family most. She enjoyed spending time with them, especially during the holidays. She also loved to crochet, go shopping, being outdoors and cooking. Marlene was known for always saying “Just do what you love most and make the most of it.”
Marlene is survived b three children, Patricia S. Becker and husband Lawrence M. of Grand Rapids, MN, Katherine S. Valentine and husband Jeffrey L. of Lucerne, MO, and Charles R. “Bob” Harris and wife Kim of Jacksonville, MO. She is also survived by six grandchildren and nine (plus) great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ingold, two sisters, Davine Pool and Linda Duffenbaugh, and her ex-husband.
Graveside services for Marlene Harris will be at the Lucerne Cemetery in Lucerne, MO, on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at 11:00 am. Pastor Doug Fairley will conduct the service with a recorded musical selection, “Anyway.”
Memorials are suggested to the family and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th, Unionville, MO, 63565.
