Robert W. Roe Jr. 76 of Kirksville passed away Sunday (October 2, 2011) at Boone Hospital in Columbia.
The son of Robert W. and Eula (Sullivan) Roe Sr., he was born February 9, 1935 in Kirksville. On April 7, 1956 in Unionville, MO he was united in marriage to Janet Klingsmith.
Robert is survived by his wife, Janet; one daughter, Sherrie Lynn Roe of Kirksville; two grandchildren, Robert M. Roe Jr. and Susan Roe of Huntsville, MO; one step granddaughter, Sheila McCartney of Moberly, MO; two sisters, Della Jane Cooley of High Ridge, MO and Madeline Easley of Novinger, MO; a daughter-in-law, Shannon Roe of Huntsville, MO; a brother-in-law, Elwyn Felt of Rockford, Il and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert M. Roe Sr.; one sister, Donna Jean Felt and a brother-in-law, Richard Cooley.
Robert attended the Kirksville Public Schools. He worked construction for 20 years and worked for Kirksville Concrete for 18 years until he retired.
He was a member of the First Liberty Full Gospel Church. He was an avid baseball fan and had played baseball for the Kirksville Northsiders and the Nind baseball team for several years. He enjoyed watching football, hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (October 8, 2011) at First Liberty Full Gospel Church, 1302 E. Filmore with Pastor Fred Baker officiating. Music will be provided by Dean Martin singing “Take My Hand Precious Lord” and Lisa Baker and Beth Weilbrenner singing “Go Rest High On That Mountain”. Burial will be at a later date in the Union Temple Cemetery.
