Rose Ann Stottlemyre

Rose Ann Stottlemyre passed away at the Putnam County Care Center on Sunday, October 16, 2011. She was 85 years of age and had lived at the Care Center since April of this year.
Rose Anna (Cullor) Stottlemyre was born in rural western Putnam County, MO, on October 22, 1925, the daughter of Richard and Daisy (Morgan) Cullor, who preceded her in death. On January 30, 1941, she married Virgil Stottlemyre in Princeton, MO, and he preceded her in death on March 26, 1980.
Rose Ann and Virgil spent their entire life farming in Putnam County, both in the east and west part of the county. Rose Ann worked from time to time in local factories, but most of her life was devoted to being a housewife and mother. She was a good cook and an avid gardener, raising vegetable and flowers, and even cactus from the seeds. She loved animals, being an ardent bird watcher, and was an excellent horsewoman as a young woman. She loved to make quilts with her dear friend Mary Peto, making quilts for grandkids and many others. “Granny” was a special trusted friend to her grandchildren and loved family gatherings. She was an active member at First Baptist Church in Unionville until ill health slowed her down. She accepted Christ as Savior at an early age and rededicated her life to the Lord in 1977.
Rose Ann is survived by three sons, Richard Stottlemyre and wife Georgie, Bud Stottlemyre and wife Darlene, and Tony Stottlemyre and wife Brenda, all of Unionville, MO; and one daughter, Mary Ann Sparks and husband Rick of Centerville, IA. Larry Russell, Trenton, MO, is a foster son who also survives. Eight grandsons, two granddaughters, and nine step grandchildren survive along with 25 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Gilbert Cullor of Marshfield, MO; M. L. Cullor and wife Lenora of Powersville, MO; and Clinton Cullor and wife Mary of Forreston, IL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Others who preceded Rose Ann in death include a daughter, Lella Belle Stottlemyre, who died in childhood, a brother, Rex Cullor, two sisters, Pearl Connors and LaRue Hodges, and twin great grandchildren, Anita and Patrick Long-Collins.
Funeral services for Rose Ann Stottlemyre will be at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home on Friday, October 21, 2011, at 2:00 pm with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the West Liberty Cemetery.
