Etta Virginia Martin 97 formerly of Greentop, passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 19, 2011 at Kirksville Manor Care where she had been a patient the last four years.
The daughter of Curtis and Stella (Triplett) West, she was born in Worthington, Missouri, on December 14, 1913. On December 23, 1933, in Unionville, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Harley Martin, who preceded her in death on June 3, 1980. Also preceding her in death was one daughter, Lois, three sons, Bill, Wayne, and Loren Martin, and one sister, Goldie McGoldrick.
Etta is survived by her daughter, Shirley (Martin) Bland and husband Jim of Kirksville; one sister, Helen Fletcher of Rockford, IL; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; fifteen great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Queen City Christian Church. She lived in Greentop for a number of years and worked for John and Ann March at the Greentop Nursing Home. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her garden and flowers. Most of all she enjoyed her family and friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday (October 22, 2011) at 2:00 p.m. in the Queen City Christian Church with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Home Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Martin, Clinton Martin Scott Martin, Ryan Martin, Doug Athon, and Micheal Athon.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the Queen City Christian Church.
