Jack E. Smith 81 of Queen City passed away early Thursday morning (Nov. 3, 2011) at the Schuyler County Nursing Home.

The son of James and Bessie (Comstock) Smith, he was born March 21, 1930 in Clinton, Iowa. On October 19, 1985 in Putnam County, Missouri he was united in marriage to Janetta Rowland Cain who survives.

He is also survived by one son, Tom and wife Debbie Smith of Clinton, IA; two step-daughters, Linda and husband Wayne McElroy of Queen City, MO and Teresa and husband Rick Keiser of Macon, MO; two step-sons, Curtis Cain of Pollo, MO and Tom Cain of Wichita, KS; one brother, Jim Smith and wife Betty of Queen City, MO; one sister, Sally Bieber of Clinton, IA; two brothers-in-law, Jerry and Bill Rowland; one sister-in-law, Loretta Cherry; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several step grand and great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Leo Smith; one sister, Norma Winter; three brothers-in-law, Jack, Lowell and Don Rowland; and two sisters-in-law, Lavee Mathes and Melba Rowland.

Jack worked in construction most of his adult life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Jack will be cremated and no service will be held. Arrangements under the direction of the Dooley Funeral Home, Queen City, MO.
