Jean Lalone

April 2, 1927 — November 10, 2011

Doris Jean LaLone 84 of Kirksville formerly of Lake Ozarks passed away Thursday evening (November 10, 2011) at Kirksville, Manor Care Center.

Jean was born on April 2, 1927 in Mendon, MO, the daughter of George Leroy and Hazel Esther McPherson Thomas. In 1972 at Las Vegas, NV she was united in marriage to Samuel LaLone who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one son, Thomas Grotjan.

Jean is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Pam) and husband Robie Elliott of Kirksville, MO and Kathleen Pruente and husband James of Lees Summit, MO; one sister, Patricia Broderick and husband Daniel of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Jason Holmes, Sean Holmes and Shane Pruente; three step grandchildren, Kristy Ker, Robin Schneider and Robie B. Elliott and eight great grandchildren.

Jean was raised in Hammond, IN and attended the Hammond schools and graduated from High School as the Valedictorian. She moved to Brunswick, MO where she was the secretary to the Superintendent of schools. She moved to Kansas City for several years where she was an executive Secretary before moving to Lake of the Ozarks and then to Kirksville to be near her daughter. She was a member of United Methodist Church. She loved the many dogs she had over the years and always feed the birds and loved animals in general. She was an avid reader. She was a great ballroom dancer, where she did exhibitions at times.
