Viola Mae Snyder

April 28, 1930 — November 15, 2011

Viola Mae Snyder, 81 of Lancaster, MO, passed away Tuesday evening (November 15, 2011) in Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, MO where she had been a patient about three weeks.


The daughter of Charles and Irene (Conley) Taft, she was born April 28, 1930, in Des Moines, IA. Viola spent most of her childhood in the Albia, IA area.


In June of 1947, she was united in marriage to William A. Miller and to this union four children were born. Viola is survived by two sons, William (Billy) Miller of Kirksville and Ronnie Miller and wife Mary of Lancaster, MO; two daughters, Shirley Maynard and husband Wayne of Arkansas and Betty Roberts of Oskaloosa, IA; 14 grandchildren and a host of great and great-great grandchildren; one brother, Charles Taft and wife Ila of Van Meter, IL and three sisters, Lula Rempster of Freeburg, IL, Clara Robertson of Marshalltown, IA, and Rita Bager of Arizona, and several nieces and nephews.


Viola was preceded in death by two brothers, Orville Taft and Jimmy Taft, and two sisters, Marion(Taft) Aarons and Donna Taft.


Viola and William spent their married life in Oskaloosa, Iowa.


In 1960 Viola moved to Marshalltown, IA and in 1963 she married Don Snyder. They moved to Queen City in the late 1980's. In 1990 Don passed away and Viola moved to Lancaster, MO.


Funeral service will be held Saturday (November 19, 2011) at 1:00 p.m. in the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Musical selections will be “Take My Hand Precious Lord” and “The Old Rugged Cross”. Interment will be in the Queen City Cemetery.


Pallbearers will be Ronnie Miller Jr., Kip Ellsworth, Chris Baker, Dennis Baker, John Maynard, and David Barker. Honorary bearers will be Robert Yates and Blint Roberts.


Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
