Bonnie Butler

Bonnie Butler, 103, of Unionville, MO passed away at the North East Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO on November 18, 2011.
Bonnie Butler was born in the Richland Township, Putnam County, Missouri on May 18, 1908, the daughter of Perry Leonidas Minear and Lena Frances (Wood) Minear. Bonnie attended the Lone Star School and loved her education so much she volunteered to repeat the eighth grade which was the highest level of education offered to her. On October 12, 1926, Bonnie married Walter “Floyd” Butler in Unionville, MO and three boys were born to this union. Bonnie devoted her entire life to her family as a homemaker. In Bonnie’s later years her devotion continued towards grandchildren and her always growing family. When someone is blessed with 103 years of life, the multiplying family is a great joy to be the cause of. Bonnie was a life long active member of the Martinstown Church of Christ. She considered her church family as her own. Bonnie also enjoyed quilting with a group of ladies in her neighborhood and was able to continue this hobby into her mid 90’s. She will be greatly missed.
Bonnie Butler is survived by her three sons, Leon Butler and wife Diane of Rockford, IL; Donald Butler of Unionville, MO; and Jerry Butler and wife Doris of Lakeview, AR. Bonnie’s surviving grandchildren are Judy, Janet, Janice, Ronnie, Jennifer, Cindy, Debbie, Kim, Denise, Randy, Ricky, and Machelle. Bonnie is survived by 20 great grandchildren, numerous great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bonnie was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Opal Butler; granddaughters, Elenor Tappendorf and Karen Butler; brothers, Dale Minear and David Minear; and sisters, Remah, Mildred, and Louise.
Bonnie’s funeral service was held on Monday, November 21st, 2011 at the Playle & Jones Chapel at 10:00am. Brother Darl Davis conducted her service and casket bearers were Ronnie Butler, J.C. McCalister, Roger Bushnell, Erick Butler, Jeremy McCalister, and Darrell Spencer. Bonnie was interred at the Pherigo Cemetery immediately following her service.
Memorials for Bonnie are suggested to the Martinstown Church of Christ or the donor’s choice and may be entrusted with the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
