Bernell Eugene Keller, 89 of Queen City passed away Sunday (November 27, 2011) at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO.
Bernell was born to Theodore (Jack) and Edith (Miller) Keller, on January 12, 1922 in rural Brashear, MO by a country doctor whom arrived by horse and buggy.
Bernell worked hard on the family farm as well as helping neighbors during thrashing season. He attended and graduated from Brashear High School. He joined the military in the Air Corp, becoming a flight engineer and pilot. Upon returning from the service he married Catherine Phillips on November 15, 1945 who remained his life-long love. He worked his farm and for many years he had an extensive egg delivery route, being commonly called the “egg man”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2007, a brother, Basil Keller and a great granddaughter.
Bernell is survived by his daughter, Linda McKenzie, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with nieces, a nephew and a host of friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday (December 1, 2011) at the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.
Pallbearers will be Julius Cureton, J.C. Brown, Jeremy Frederick, Rusty Rouse, Lynn Creason and Larry Hill.
Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the
Dooley Funeral Home,
