Rosalee Davison Coy 90 of Kirksville passed away Thursday (January 12, 2012) at Kirksville Manor Care.
Rosalee was born May 20, 1921, the daughter of Walter Sears and Mary Christina (Umbarger) Davison. On November 1, 1941 she was united in marriage to Carl Coy.
Rosalee in survived by her children, Sandra Lay of Kirksville, Donna (Gary) Clarkson of LaPlata, Carlos (Karen) Coy of LaPlata, and Karen (Dick) Osborn of Kirksville; one sister, Mary Slawson of LaPlata; two brothers, Tom (Velda) Davison of Columbia, MO and Walter (Reta) Davison of Kirksville; grandchildren, Carla Mayer, Pam Protzman, Julie Lay, Bradley Lay, Christina Findling, Scott Clarkson, Michael Parsons, Debra Smith, and Jeffrey Parsons; three step-grandchildren, Tony Osborn, Elizabeth Penkert and Danny Smith; 18 great grandchildren; 7 step-great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl in 2003 and sisters, Faye (Elmer) Perry and Margaret (Chris) Christianson.
Rosalee was raised on a farm east of Millard, attending Millard and Prairie View schools and graduating from Kirksville Senior High School in 1939. She attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College for one year earning her teaching certificate. She taught one year at Prairie View School before she married Carl and moved to the Coy family farm in the Pure Air community. There she raised her children until moving to Kirksville in 1955. Rosalee and Carl bought a house on West Shelby street where they lived out their working years, then moved to Fjeld Arms apartments where she resided until recently moving to Kirksville Manor Care. She had been employed by International Shoe Company, McGraw Edison Company and Kirksville Manor Care.
Rosalee was a caring wife and a loving mother who enjoyed her family, going dancing, reading, fishing at Branson and traveling. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, RSVP and the First United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (January 15, 2012) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Northcutt officiating. Entombment will be in the Good Shepherd Mausoleum at Park View Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Ave., Kirksville, MO 63501   660-665-2233
