Jack Maulsby, 88, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Care Center in Unionville on Wednesday, January 11, 2012.
Jack Neal Maulsby was born in Unionville, MO, on August 9, 1923, the son of Grover and Edna (Probasco) Maulsby, who preceded him in death. Jack graduated from Unionville High School in 1941 and began working for Loughridge Hatchery in Unionville. He entered the United States Army in 1945 and served in Germany. He was honorably discharged December 31, 1946. He returned to Unionville where he owned and operated a chicken farm.
On November 25, 1966, Jack married Doris Jeane (Minear) White and became a family man, gaining three children who added joy and adventure to his life. Doris Jeane passed away February 17, 2007. Jack went to work with Missouri Mining in the 1970’s and retired with Star Coal in 1985. He then worked as a handyman around town, painting, building decks, and doing home repairs. Jack enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He was a quiet, solid family man who loved his children and knew how to have a little fun with his grandchildren.
Jack is survived by his three children, Jeanie Williams and husband Charlie of Blue Springs, MO; Skip White and wife Kathy of Cassville, MO; and Debbie Garrett and husband James of Unionville, MO. Jack’s grandchildren are Tracie Childers, David Garrett, Leslie Williams, Lindsey Williams and Jessica Bryand. Eight great grandchildren survive. Jack is also survived by two brothers, Jim Maulsby and wife Marlene of Macon, MO; and Charley Maulsby of Moline, IL; and two sisters Agnes Maulsby and Virginia Torrey, both of Unionville, MO. Two sisters-in-law also survive: Wynona Maulsby of Richmond, MO, and Bonnie Maulsby of Milan, MO.
Others who preceded Jack in death were brothers Bob, Richard, and Ed Maulsby, infant sister, Lois Maulsby, and sister-in-law Stella Maulsby McFarland.
Services for Jack Maulsby will be at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, on Sunday, January 15, 2012, at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be Saturday, January 14, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Interment will be at the Unionville Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Unionville, MO, or Hospice of NE Missouri and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
