Jay Lee Ross
Jay Lee Ross, 73, of Powersville, MO passed away on January 27, 2012 at the Wayne County Memorial Hospital in Corydon, IA.
Jay Lee Ross was born on February 15, 1938, the son of Lester and Mary (Kuysak) Ross. On June 19, 1986 he married Carol Curtis in Lucerne, MO. As a young man Jay Lee began working for the railroad. He served our country in the Army for a term and even picked up milk with Max Edwards. These experiences prepared him for a job as an extension center small farm’s assistant for the University of Missouri. Jay Lee also worked at many of the local sale barns, but was a farmer first and foremost. Jay Lee was a former member of the Angus Association and found great joy in his chickens and especially his tall bearded Iris. He retired after many years as a rural mail carrier. He will be greatly missed.
Jay Lee Ross is survived by his wife Carol of the home and five children. His sons are Clint Ross and wife Angie of Powersville, MO and Curt Heun of Corydon, IA; and his daughters are Christine Wade of Darby, IA, Carla Heun of Ottumwa, IA, and Cathy Wessel and husband Tim of Unionville, MO. Jay Lee’s grandchildren are Cara Ross, Kendall Ross, Alesha Wade, Ross Wade, Larry Zimmerman, Tyrone Zimmerman, Patrick Zimmerman, Jessica Vangendren, Matthew Wessel, and Cori J. Heun. Jay Lee is also survived by 6 great grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Ross and wife Sandra of Lucerne, MO; and a cousin, Janice Stark of Lucerne, MO. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, Jay Lee was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Caleen Heun.
Graveside services for Jay Lee Ross were held at the Lucerne Cemetery on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at 11:00 am with Pastor Howard Luscan conducted the service. Pallbearers were Brian Ross, Curt Heun, Clint Ross, Kendall Ross, Tim Wessel, and Less Hydorn. Honorary pall bearers were Jerry Ross, Wendal Stark, Mark Perkins, Steve Peterson, Bill Godfrey, and Dale Davis.
Memorials for Jay Lee Ross are suggested to the family and may be entrusted to the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
