Norma Lee (Brown) Green

Norma Lee (Brown) Green, 83, of Kirksville, Missouri, went to be with the Lord Tuesday morning (March 6, 2012) in Kirksville, Missouri.

Norma was born in Knox County, Missouri, on August 22, 1928, to Ezra Oliver and Alice Rowlison Brown. She was united in marriage to Donald Francis Green on February 26, 1955.

Norma graduated from Baring High School in 1946. She was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 30 years. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, camping, and lovingly cared for her grandchildren. She was a member of the Gideons International Auxiliary since 1967, and loved being a part of an organization that spread the gospel of Jesus Christ by providing Bibles in many languages throughout the world. Norma was an active member of the Kirksville First Church of the Nazarene since 1985 until her failing health brought her to Twin Pines Adult Care Center in 2008.

Norma is survived by her daughter Donna Tharp and husband Steve, son Stephen Green and fianceé Rebecca Giem, and four grandchildren; Christopher Tharp and wife Tara of Springfield, Missouri; Brandon Green of Searcy, Arkansas; Rachel Noe and husband Roy; Bryan Green, of Kirksville; and one great-grandson, Titus Tharp. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gloria and Richard Fusselman, of Deming, New Mexico; her sister-in-law Shirley Green of Kansas City, Missouri; and her sister-in-law Rama Day of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, in 2006, her parents, and her sisters, Erma Brown, Mildred Willows, and Gladys Penn, a brother, Thurman Brown, and a great-granddaughter, Camrey Lee Noe.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 10, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri. Reverends Bob Shaffer and Bob Price will officiate the service. Musical selections will be “The Old Rugged Cross” and “At the Cross.” Burial will be in the Parkview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Kirksville, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Tharp, Brandon Green, Bryan Green, Roy Noe, David Green, and Terry Brown.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 9, 2012, with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Avenue, Kirksville, Missouri 660-665-2233
