Wanda Stafford
Wanda Stafford, 83, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Milan Health Care Facility in Milan, MO, on Monday, March 12, 2012. She had been a resident there for a year and a half.
Wanda Ann (Law) Stafford was born in Brookfield, MO, on July 8, 1928, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Deem) Law, who preceded her in death. Being the daughter of a Pentecostal pastor, the family moved often from small town to small town. After school she worked as a waitress and on November 8, 1948, she married Clarice Stafford in Waterloo, IA, and he survives at home in Unionville.
Wanda continued to work as a waitress and then, when Wanda and Clarice moved from Cedar Falls to Unionville in 1982, she worked as a secretary/clerical worker for Green Hills Community Action Agency in Unionville. When Wanda retired she continued to work as a volunteer in the Food Pantry at Green Hills.
Wanda was a friendly and outgoing person. She liked to play cards, especially Pitch, and do crossword puzzles. She also liked to watch game shows on TV. She was always a good wife and mother and a contributing member of the community.
In addition to her husband, Wanda is survived by four children: daughters Joyce Elbert and husband Tom and Sherry Norte and husband Bruce, all of Owatonna, MN; and sons Gary Stafford of Unionville, MO, and Howard Stafford of Pollock, MO. Four grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren also survive.
Wanda was preceded in death by a son, George, a brother, Bill Law, and a sister, Romona Regan.
Funeral services for Wanda Stafford will be at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at 2:00 pm with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Unionville Cemetery, Unionville, MO.
Memorials for Wanda are suggested to the family to help with funeral expenses and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
