Freddie (Fred) R. Inkelaar, 62 of Kirksville passed away Sunday (March 18, 2012) at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO.

The son of Fred R. and Anna Mary (Sutton) Inkelaar Sr., he was born February 20, 1950 in Kirksville. On October 1, 1977 in Independence, Oregon he was united in marriage to Debbie Wallace.

Fred is survived by his wife, Debbie; second mother, Viola Inkelaar of Wichita, KS; two sons, Tim Inkelaar of Kirksville and Steve Sater of Salem, OR; four brothers, Jim (Donna) Inkelaar of Derby, KS, Charlie Inkelaar of Afton, OK, Gilbert (Tommi) Inkelaar of Tulsa, OK and Gerald (Betty) Inkelaar of Wichita, KS; five sisters, Bonnie (Gene) of Norman, OK, Pamela (David) Tracy of Cheney, Kansas, Naomi (Robert) McKinsey of Wichita, KS, Tonya Inkelaar of Wichita, KS and Katrina (Jesse) Soulter of Wichita, KS; one grandson, Shane Ryder Inkelaar of Salem, OR; many nieces and nephews and many aunts and uncles including, Andy and Mary Sutton, Louise Smith, Alice and Bruce Beddingfield, Bill and Ann Sutton, Wayne and Pat Sutton and Betty Jean Sutton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Billie Leo Inkelaar.

Fred moved from Kirksville at about the age of 5 to Wichita, KS where he graduated from high school. He entered the U.S. Army serving one tour in Vietnam. He attended Northwest Bible College and graduated from Minot State College in Minot, ND with a teaching degree. He graduated from Monmouth College in Monmouth, OR with a Master’s degree in family counseling. He worked as a Social Worker and provided contract services for supervising care. In 1994 he opened a second hand store, Fred’s Place in Salem, OR that he operated until he retired in 2006 and in 2007 he return to Kirksville.

He attended the New Hope Evangelical Church and was part of a local Veterans group. He enjoyed woodworking, working in the yard and was an animal lover.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday (March 22, 2012) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Darrell Draper officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Ownbey Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Ave., Kirksville, MO 63501 660-665-2233
