Georgia Madeline Crockett, 86 of Brashear, MO passed away Thursday (March 29, 2012) at Northeast Regional Medical Center.

The daughter of George Elmer and Goldie Marie (McMarlin) Smith, she was born August 12, 1925 in Williamstown, MO. On June 28, 1943 she was united in marriage to Norman L. Crockett and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, James M. Smith and a brother in infancy.

Georgia is survived by one son, Stephen Louis Crockett and wife Rhonda of Brashear, MO; two brothers, Calvin L. Smith of New Waverly, TX and Vernon Smith of Kansas; one sister, Dorothy Davis of St. Peters, MO; a special grandson, Brandon Mihalevich; three special great grandchildren, Justin, Gus and Harli Mihalevich; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Georgia grew up and attended school in the Wyaconda and Fairmont area. She attended Kirksville State Teachers College and received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education. She worked in the Brashear School District where she taught 3rd and 4th grades, served as Principal and her last years she was the Librarian until she retired.

She was a member of the Sabbath Home Methodist Church. She made lap robes for many residents in local nursing homes. She enjoyed reading, working in the yard, gardening and helping people.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday (March 31, 2012) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Nancy Douglas officiating. Burial will be in Sabbath Home Cemetery in eastern Adair County.

Pallbearers will be Allen Davis, Brandon Mihalevich, Gus Mihalevich, Billy Hettinger, Ray Krogmeier and Ross Fortney. Honorary bearers will be Justin Coy, Larry McKim, Calvin Snyder, Lonnie Salter and Harli Mihalevich.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Ave., Kirksville, MO 63501   660-665-2233
