James G. Henderson Sr.

James G. Henderson Sr., 86 of Kirksville passed away Sunday (April 1, 2012) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center.

The son of John Lee and Hazel Althea (Crawford) Henderson, he was born August 26, 1925 in Clarissa, MN. In 1944 he was united in marriage to Madeline Hall and to this union two sons where born. On September 4, 1965 in Kansas City, MO he was united in marriage to Freda Detwiler.

Jim is survived by his wife, Freda of Kirksville; two sons, James Henderson Jr. and wife Linda of Briggsdale, CO and Ronnie Henderson of Linn Creek, MO; three grandsons, Aaron Henderson and wife Donna of Greenwood, MO, Joshua Henderson of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Mitchell Henderson of Linn Creek, MO; two great grandsons, Jonathon Henderson of Lees Summit, MO and Daniel Clark of Greenwood, MO, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Jim grew up in McCredie and Kingdom City, MO area. He began driving a truck, hauling cattle at the age of 16. He continued driving a truck hauling freight and also did some farming until he retired in 1983. He moved to Kirksville in 1991 and worked for a short time for MFA at the fertilizer plant.

He was a former member of the Kearney United Methodist Church, the Kirksville Moose Lodge, International Order of the Oddfellows and was a retired Teamster. He loved driving a truck and taking care of his cattle.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (April 4, 2012) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Virgil Jones officiating. Burial will be in McCredie Cemetery in Kingdom City, MO.

Pallbearers will be Jim Henderson, Ronnie Henderson, Aaron Henderson, Mitchell Henderson, Jonathon Henderson and Daniel Clark.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Ave., Kirksville, MO 63501   660-665-2233
