Loyal “Lucky” Kramer

Loyal Kramer 84 of Queen City passed away at his home late Friday (April 25, 2012) under Hospice Care after a short illness.

The son of Herbert Leroy and Goldie (Bowen) Kramer, he was born April 6, 1928 in Mexico, Mo. As a young boy he moved with his family to a farm west of Queen City. He attended both Queen City and Greentop schools, graduating from the Greentop High School with the class of 1947. In 1948 he joined the United States Marines where he served until being honorably discharged in 1952.

On August 21, 1971, he married Barbara McBee who survives. Also surviving are five children, Joe Kramer and wife Bonnie of Boone, IA, Debbie Jensen of Boone, IA, Rita Sullivan and husband James of Dubuque, IA, Cindy Nagel of Kirksville and Brad Kramer and wife Karen of Kansas City, MO; eleven grandchildren, Jenna, Josilyn and Jessica Kramer, Ashley Ricks, Anthony and Nicole Sullivan, Haley, Kiley and Grant Nagel, and Taylin and Ryleigh Kramer; two brothers, Jerry Kramer and David Kramer; three sisters, Norma Mathes, Sharon Colton and Nancy Perry, and several nieces and nephews.

Loyal was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Wanda Shaw and three brothers, Leroy, Robert and Danny Kramer.

He worked as a carpenter for several years and in later years he farmed until his retirement.

Loyal was a family man. He enjoyed spending time with all his family and especially enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren.

He was a member of the VFW Post 2508 and the American Legion Post 20 both of Kirksville.

Loyal will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday (April 28, 2012) in the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor Bonnie Kramer giving the Eulogy. Burial will be at a later date.
