Lavinnia Pearl Worley

Lavinnia Worley, 80, of Unionville, MO, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, May 7, 2012, after a six month battle with cancer.
Lavinnia Pearl (Andrew) Worley was born in Mendota, MO, on March 7, 1932, the daughter of Frank Lee Clifford and Dulcie Pearl (White) Andrew, who preceded her in death. She married Charles Edward “Ed” Worley in Unionville on June 30, 1951, and he preceded her in death on July 12, 2005.
Lavinnia worked at Ross Produce in her younger years and also had part-time jobs at Putnam Studio and the neighborhood store across from the old High School. But mostly she was a wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved to cook and prepare Sunday dinner for the family every Sunday. She attended all the sporting activities of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a loving mother who always put her family first.
Lavinnia was an avid golfer and a member of the Lady Golfers at the Unionville Country Club. She also liked to play cards and enjoyed Bingo and had regularly scheduled card games with neighbors and friends at the Country Club. She loved to travel and had been to every state except Washington. She was always ready to go with friends and family. Lavinnia worked elections for the Lincoln Township and was often called upon to provide food for many community activities and events.
Lavinnia is survived by two sons, Ron Worley and wife Pat and Roger Worley and wife Beverly, and a daughter, Connie Wood, all of Unionville, MO. Her surviving grandchildren are Bryan Worley, Charles Worley, Kenneth Worley, Jason Wood, Brandi Wood, and Sara Worley. Great grandchildren are Ashlynn Worley, Orie Fuller, Dustin Worley, and Karen McQueen. Lavinnia’s surviving siblings are Bernard Andrew of Mechanicsville, IA, Hazel Webber of Stockton, IA, Delmar Andrew of Princeton, MO, Violet Young of Novinger, MO, and Linda Abbot of Columbia, MO. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Lavinnia was preceded in death by brothers Lloyd and James Andrew and by sisters Berniece Abbot, and Betty Podrouzek. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Orie Wood, on September 9, 2000. Orie spent many happy times with his grandparents.
Funeral services for Lavinnia Worley will be held at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at 11:00 am. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 9, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Pastor Walter Griffen will conduct the service with recorded musical selections, “Supper Time,” “Wind Beneath My Wings,” and “How Great Thou Art.” Casket bearers will be Ron Worley, Roger Worley, Charlie Worley, Jason Wood, Kenneth Worley, and Butch Kerby. Interment will be at the Unionville Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Unionville Cemetery and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th, Unionville, MO, 63565.
