Mikel Wayne Jones
Mikel Jones of Queen City passed away Saturday (May 5, 2012) in Barnes Jewish Hospital in
St. Louis, Missouri, after a courageous four year battle with cancer.
The son of Avery and Mary (Long) Jones he was born November 5, 1986, in Kirksville,
Missouri. Mikel grew up in Queen City and attended the Schuyler R-l schools, graduating with the class of 2005.
On May 26, 2007, he was united hi marriage to Katie Long.
Mikel attended Northwest Missouri University hi Maryville, Missouri and worked at Break-
time until he became ill.
He is survived by his parents, Avery and Mary Jones, one brother, Chris Jones and one sister,
Natasha Jones all of Queen City, Grandparents, Novle and Roberta Jones of Queen City, one aunt,
Sue Reno and husband Dick of Wentzville, MO; three uncles, Mark Jones and wife Lisa of
Lancaster, MO, Lloyd Long Jr. and wife Lowella of Greentop, MO, and Russell Long of Kirksville, also several great uncles, great aunts and cousins.
Mikel was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Birney and Ethel Jones and Ray and
Bertha Wheeler, his grandparents Lloyd and Barbara Long, and a cousin Brittany Jones.
He was a member of the Queen City Baptist Church.
Mikel was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. He loved nature and animals especially his dog
Bailey.
Mikel was a great son who was loved very much by his family.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (May 12, 2012) in the Dooley Funeral
Home with Pastor Jeff Noble officiating. Music selections will be "In the Garden" and "Because
He Lives" sung by Jori Noble. Interment will be in the Queen City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will
be Brian Whitlow, Jesse Anderson, Duane Ferris, Allen Ferdig, Skylar Wheeler, and Thad Jones. Honorary bearers will be L.W. Long, Ethan Jones, Terry Wheeler, Steve Miller, and Walt Davis.
Visitation will be after 1:00 p.m. Friday (May 11, 2012) with the family receiving friends
from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the
Dooley Funeral Home,
Queen City, Missouri.
Memorials are suggested to the Mikel Jones Memorial Scholarship.
