Gladys Naomi Claybrook died at 7:34 a.m. at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, where she had been a patient since May 22, 2012, but had been ill since February, 2012.


The daughter of William and Betty (Ewing) Sparks, she was born in Kirksville, MO on January 29, 1933. In June, 1950 she married Charles McKim who is deceased. On September 8, 1989 she married Paul Claybrook who is deceased. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Carrie Sue McKim who died in infancy and two brothers, David and Virgil Ewing.


Surviving are two sons, David McKim and wife, Nancy of Villa Ridge, MO and John M. McKim and wife, Vaneta of Kirksville; one daughter, Linda McKim of Columbia, MO; one sister, Faye Anastasoff of Chesterfield, MO; ten grandchildren, Daroush Radmanish of London, England, Kimberly Armstrong, Chuck McKim and wife, Heather of Kirksville, Shawn McKim and wife, Bonnie of Kirksville, Tasha Shumaker of Kirksville, Janet of Elmira, NY, Adam McKim of Joplin, MO, Jeremiah McKim of Kirksville, Tina Morris and husband, Jack of Jefferson City, MO and Melody Buchheit and husband, Doug of Marthasville, MO; twenty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and four nieces.


Gladys worked for the International Shoe Company for several years. She also worked at Hollister, Inc. for a period of five years. Later she worked for Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Kirksville. Gladys was a very loving mother and loved all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also concerned about her neighbors and helped them in many ways. Her prayer list was unending.


Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012, at the First Assembly of God Church with Reverend Robert Fredericks officiating. Private burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville. Arrangement are under the direction of the
