Donald Ruggles

Donald Ruggles, 77, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville, MO, on Thursday, May 31, 2012.
Donald John Ruggles was born in Prairie City, IA, on November 7, 1934, the son of John and Berniece (Crosby) Ruggles, who preceded him in death. Don owned and operated a small business for a brief time and also worked at Crescent Chevrolet in Des Moines before beginning a 30 year trucking career with Lint Transfer Company out of Des Moines, IA, where he had a perfect driving record over that entire period. Don married Gloria Olsowski at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA, on March 14, 1981 and she survives at home in Unionville.
John was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing for walleye in Minnesota and Tennessee. He was a baptized believer in Christ. Don was a member of Teamsters #133 and the Elks Lodge, both in Des Moines.
In addition to his wife, Don is survived by two sons, J. D. Ruggles of Des Moines, IA, and Jeff Ruggles and wife Joan of the state of Colorado, and a daughter, Julie Gamble and husband Randy of Winterset, IA. Seven grandchildren also survive.
Don was also preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Ruggles and a sister, Shirlee Sitterle.
Don’s body was cremated at his request and no services are planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
