Lucas Cole Grinde
Lucas Cole Grinde, 35 of Kirksville passed away Friday, June 8, 2012 at his home.
The son of Carol A. Byars and Mark S. Grinde, he was born July 22, 1976 in Kirksville, Missouri. He grew up in Kirksville where he attended the Kirksville schools, graduating from the Kirksville Senior High in 1994. He was known for his fun loving antics and was considered a class clown. He attended college at Missouri Western State University and Indian Hills Community College. He was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed his craft. Luke was a very social person and loved all people.
The loves of Lucas’ life were his daughter, his family and his friends. His daughter was the center of his life and he was devoted to her. He was happiest when he was around people. He was a kind hearted person, loved life and was fun loving. He was an animal person and always had a pet. Luke always enjoyed sports and played baseball, basketball, football, and golf.
He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Mizzou fan and loved Busch Stadium and tailgating in Columbia.
Luke’s other passions were fishing, boating, swimming, watching tennis, music, playing cards, bar-b-queuing, growing and cooking with hot peppers, and anything that involved people.
Lucas is survived by his daughter, Alexys Lea Grinde of Vandalia, MO; his mother and step father, Carol and Larry Byars of Kirksville; his father and step mother, Mark and Vickie Grinde of LaPlata, MO; grandmother, Emma L. Hays of Kirksville; sister Meg Grinde and Russell Gaskins of Columbia, MO; step sisters Lyndsay Hinkebein and husband Brian of Columbia, MO and Jennifer Lewis and husband Trent of Kirksville; aunts and uncles, Larry and Carol Hays of Kirksville, Doug Hays of Kirksville, Kent and Lee Grinde of Kirksville, Cynthia and Ben Nassim of Indiana and Marsha and Don Griffin of Ferndale, AR; eleven cousins, Heidi Hays, Corey Hays, Aaron Hays, Jessye Hays, Tyler Hays, Carli Hays, Soraya Tabbi-Aguirre and husband Jose, John Grinde, Drake Grinde, Janelle Nassim and Adria Nassim and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Bennie Hays and Robert (Bob) Grinde; his grandmother, Peggy Grinde; and one aunt, Gail Grinde.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (June 12, 2012) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Gene Austin officiating.
Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home,
