Scherry Marie Hewitt
Scherry Marie (Hartman) Hewitt, 69, of Greentop, Missouri, (formally of Kansas City, MO) passed away unexpectedly, Friday (June 08, 2012) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO.
Born February 13, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri, Scherry was the daughter of William and Margaret (Myers) Hartman. Scherry was a graduate from East High School in Independence, MO. with the Class of 1961.
Scherry started dancing at the age of 3 at the Dolores Durrett Dance Studio, Mary Evans School of Dance, Clarks Dance Studio in Kansas City. Scherry danced in the Armed Forces Shows and has appeared on KCMO and KCTY-TV in Kansas City as well as the Ted Mack Amateur Hour. She also appeared nightly at the Starlight Theater in the production “Sweethearts”. Scherry continued dancing through high school. She did Ballet, Taping, Baton, Acrobatic, Jazz and Ballroom. On April 7, 1962 she opened Scherry’s School of dance in the Loma Vista Shopping Center in Kansas City.
Scherry was city born but loved the country life and her animals. She loved her horses, dogs and cats.
Scherry is survived by her husband, Roy A. “Buzz” Hewitt of the home; her mother in law & father in law, Junior & Theresa Hewitt of Greentop, MO; daughter, Lesa Miller of North Kansas City, MO.; daughter, Jesse Ingram & fiancé Allen Hines of Greentop, MO; stepson, Nathan Hewitt of Lee’s Summit, MO; stepdaughter, Andrea Hewitt of North Kansas City, MO; sister’s in law, Barbie Goettsch and husband Greg of Dacono, CO; Linda Van O’Linda and husband Chris of Rogersville, MO; Pam Carter and husband Larry of Springfield, MO; grandson’s, Shane Miller of Texas, Mitch Miller of Kansas City; granddaughter’s, Alana Buce of Clinton, MO; SiMoria Rose Hines of Greentop, MO; step grandson, Raiden Cole Hewitt of Lee’s Summit, MO; nephews, Tyler Platz of Springfield, MO; Calvin Van O’Linda and wife Carmen of Cozad, NE; Jessie Van O’Linda and friend Aly of Springfield, MO; Jason and Christopher Goettsch of Colorado; nieces, Brittaney Sterling and Husband Jason of Bryan, TX; Katy Rich and Husband Ben of Springfield, MO; great niece Madeline Sterling of Bryan, TX; great nephew Jackson Sterling of Bryan, TX.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret (Myers) Hartman and Bill Hartman
Scherry will be cremated and there will be no visitation or service.
