Anna Giovannini, 97 of Kirksville passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012, in Kirksville, MO.

The daughter of Charles Bartosik and Mary (Shupka) Bartosik, she was born January 11, 1915, in Connelsville, MO. On June 5, 1932, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Novinger, MO she married John Giovannini and to this union two children were born. She is survived by her children Charles R. Giovannini and wife, Mary “Link” of Kirksville, and Marianna Giovannini-Sparks and husband, George William “Bill”, of Moberly, MO; grandchildren, John Robert “Bob” Giovannini and Hilary, Charles David “David” Giovannini, and Elizabeth Ann “Beth” (Giovannini) Poston and Bobby; great grandchildren, Dillon Robert Poston, Travis Andrew Poston, Katelyn Elizabeth Poston, Andrew Christopher Giovannini, John Ivan Giovannini, and Hunter Link Giovannini, all of Kirksville. A sister, Matilda Grubrich, Greentop, MO. Also surviving are four nephews Don Bartosik, Wilmington, NC, Ron Shumaker, Moline, IL, Don Shumaker, Davenport IA, John Shumaker, Indianapolis, IN, and many great and great great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Giovannini grew up on a farm south of Novinger, MO, attended Stinson School and was a graduate of the Kirksville Business College. She and her husband John, established the Giovannini Insurance Agency and were partners in Belaire Estates Inc., housing development, Anna was also a salesperson for Giovannini Real Estate, retiring in 1986. Anna and her husband John, enjoyed dancing and were well known around the state for their dancing to “big band music”. She also enjoyed flower gardening, quilting with the Piecemakers, taking care of her great grandchildren, and spending time with family. She was a member of the Mary Immaculate Parish and active in the Altar Society and Young at Heart. She also was a member of Women of the Moose and a former member of RSVP and Kirk Society at Truman State University.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, John Giovannini on March 13, 1986, her parents, Charles and Mary Bartosik, a brother Charles Bartosik, a sister Mary Bartosik Shumaker, sister-in-law Della Minetti Kob, brothers -in-law Fred Kob, Robert Shumaker, Marion Grubrich, niece Francis O’Laughlin, and nephew Larry E. Shumaker.

A mass of Christian Burial celebrating Anna’s life will be held at 9:00a.m. Monday, July 2, at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Kirksville with Father Chris Cordes and Deacon David Ream officiating. Burial will be Park View Memorial Gardens.

Casket bearers will be David Giovannini, Andrew Giovannini, John Giovannini, Hunter Giovannini, Bobby Poston, Dillon Poston. Honorary Bearers will be Bob Giovannini, Hilary Giovannini, Beth Poston, Travis Poston, Katy Poston.

On Sunday, July 1, 2012, a prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m., followed by visitation from 6:00-8:00p.m. at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Adair County/Giovannini Scholarship Fund at Truman State University, the Mary Immaculate Catholic School or Charity of Donor's choice.
