James Eldon (Peach) Bergman

James (Peach) Bergman of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 19, 2012, at Northeast Regional Medical Center.

The son of Harold and Thelma (Forbes) Bergman, he was born December 6, 1942, in rural Schuyler County. On April 1, 2004, he was married to Cathy D. Frazier who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Jimmy Bergman and wife Pam of Kirksville, Jeff Bergman of Kirksville, and Brandon Bergman of Kirksville; two daughters, Ashlea Frazier, and Hollie Frazier; eight grandchildren, Amber True and husband Brandon, Aaron Eskra and wife Sierra, Alexis Bergman, Jenny Miller and husband Cory, Aric Bergman, Delanie Bergman, Taylor Frazier, and Erin Frazier; nine great-grandchildren, Ally. Gunnar, Kinley, and Kayley True, Daxtyn and Victoria Eskra, Cristian and Aiden Bergman, and Kylee Waddle; two brothers, Gene Bergman and wife Heraldine of Queen City, and Larry Bergman and wife Tammi of Booneville, MO; two sisters, Geneva Yearns of Queen City, and Gwenda Jackson of Lancaster, MO; a sister-in-law, Rose Bergman of Shorewood, IL; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Peach was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, a brother, Kenneth Bergman and a sister in infancy.

He grew up in Queen City and attended the Queen City Public School graduating with the class of 1961. In May of 1967 he was inducted into the United States Army where he served for two years. He received an honorable discharge in May of 1969. Peach was a carpenter. In 1985 he started Bergman Cemetery Lettering and was well known over a very large area for his fine work.

He was a member of the Kirksville Moose Lodge #1751. He was an organ donor, making sight possible for two others. Peach liked to fish and liked to sit on the deck and drink coffee. He always had a smile on his face, was always honest, and his word was gold.

A funeral will be held Monday (July 23,2012) at 12:30 p.m. in the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastors Alan Coonfield and Sonny Smyser officiating. Interment will be hi the Missouri Veterans Cemetery hi Jacksonville, MO.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Barnes, David Snyder, Larry Kiem, Jim Kiem, Casey Kiem, and Gurden Tague. Honorary Bearers will be Larry Collins, Chuck Rhoads, Dannie McClellan, and Rex Yates.

Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Dooley Funeral Home Queen City, Missouri 63561 660-766-2241
