Roscoe (Rocky) L. Coram, age 90 years, died peacefully with family surrounding him on July 29, 2012 in Kirksville, MO. He leaves behind his devoted and loving wife of 30 years, Jean; son Steve and wife Colleen (O’Brien) Coram of Kearney, NE. He was born March 22, 1922 in Winnigan, MO. to Eddith (Magers) and Wrenfred A. Coram. He had one sister, Violet (Coram) Peavler. Roscoe was a lifetime member of the community and owned and operated the Edina Lumber Company for 40 years. He and his wife, Jean moved to Kirksville 2001.
Survivors include his grandchildren, Melissa Coram of Phoenix, AZ and Amy (Matt) Harris of Lincoln, NE. Step-children include Vicki (Mark) Simmons of Manchester, MO; Debbi (Howard) Allred of Centerville, UT; Rick Doubet of Columbia, MO. His step-grandchildren include Mallory (Louis) Delgado of St. Louis, MO; Dru Allred and Elizabeth (Ravi) Cerar of Centerville, UT.
He is survived by six great-grandchildren: Madelyn and David Addison of Phoenix, AZ; Sam, Ben, and Joe Harris of Lincoln, NE; and Malaki Doubet of Columbia, MO.
Rocky is also survived by beloved nieces and nephews and two dear friends; Darla Doubet and nurse Vicky Sollars.
On March 23, 1946 he was married to Marjorie Williams of Kirksville, MO. She passed away July, 1973. On August 28, 1982 he wed Jean (Murphy) Doubet of Kirksville, MO.
Rocky served in WWII enlisting Nov. 9, 1942. He was a member of the 3rd Army Infantry Division and served in the Special Commando Platoon Squad. He was a grenadier and was involved in the invasion of Sicily and Italy. He trained in North Africa. He was promoted to Platoon Sergeant and served at the Replacement Depot near Leghorn, Italy. He was honorably discharged at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri on Nov. 14, 1945.
Rocky was a founding member of the Edina Country Club and a member of the Kirksville Country Club. As a member of the El Kadir Shrine Club he spent many rewarding times with the Shrine Club Cycle Patrol.
Services will be held on Wednesday, August 1 at 1:00 P.M. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Carol Davenport officiating. Interment will be in the Linville Cemetery at Edina.

Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church Handicap Entrance Project. Contributions can be sent or left at the Funeral Home.
