Roy L. Myers

Roy L. Myers, 82 of Brashear, Missouri, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012 at the Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

The son of James Albert and Ruby (Combites) Myers, he was born April 3, 1930 in Blandsville, Illinois. On September 22, 1947, in Biggsville, Illinois, he was united in marriage to Ruth Marcelene McConnell, who preceded him in death in October of 2011, after 64 years of marriage. He is also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ora Myers and Allen Lee Myers.


Roy is survived by one daughter, Barbara Huttenstine and husband Tony of Queen City, MO; two sons, Roy Jr. (Buck) Myers and wife Theresa of Oquawka, IL, and Rick Myers of Oquawka, IL; six grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Myers and wife Pauline of Aledo, Illinois and Donnie Myers and wife Barbara of Aledo, IL; three sisters, Jeanie Leonard and husband Bill of Biggsville, IL, Evelyn Link and fiancee Jon Dawdy of Oquawka, IL, and Mary Lou Dillon and husband Delbert of Jacksonville, AR.

Roy grew up Henderson County, Illinois and attended the Henderson County schools. He and his wife spent most of their married life in Henderson County, Illinois, until moving to Brashear, Missouri, in 2006. Roy worked for JI Case in Burlington, Iowa, until his retirement in 2000.

He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 807.

Visitation will be Thursday (August 16, 2012) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Dooley Funeral Home, Queen City, Missouri.

Visitation will be Saturday (August 18, 2012) from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, IL.
